Sulfur dioxide

SO2 is an example of:
A) a non-polar gaseous substance
B) a strong oxidizing agent
C) an acid anhydride
D) a salt

I thought that SO2 was C) an acid anhydride, but the answer is supposed to be D) a salt, which I find really strange. Is SO2 really a salt and not an acid anhydride?

In chemistry salt is not the same as the table salt.

It's usually a compound formed after acid-base neutralization reaction.
