With regaurd to the conductivity of water after a mixed bed IX column.
Why is conductivity low.
We replace the disolved Ions such as Na and K with H+ and OH-
So wont the H+ and OH- show conductivity?
Thanks

I think I know the answer after a bit of thought.
It is because the H and OH combine to make water which is a neutral molecule and does not conduct electricity

No, it is because you are not exchanging the ions, but rather removing ions from the solution onto the adsorbent resin. This is why the tanks need to be regenerated--they get "full" of ions.
