Why HPLC is called as high precision?

why HPLC is called as high performance?


what does the term performance implies here? is this about the activity, efficiency like thing or something different or more specific and give me an idea about HIGH PRECISION....

since I was around and saw your recent post marked urgent - until someone else can come up with better answers:
"Why HPLC is called as high precision?"
High Pressure/Performance Liquid Chromatography - it's just another name for Chromatography applied to instrumental analysis, the name that stuck was HPLC.
"why HPLC is called as high performance?"
I think the equipment manufacturers insist on 'Performance' in the name - 'performance' sells better than 'pressure'.

Sorry, I deleted the line where I answered 'precision' - summarising, yes, precision and high performance as offered by chromatographic method by instrumental analysis is currently benchmarked/standardised to meet High Precision and High Performance, determined statistically - repetitive injections, as outline in Standard Methods such as in AOAC. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precision
