Catalysis - Reactor volume

hey everyone,
I have this question:

In a lab we need a catalyst to hydrogenate an unsaturated hydrocarbon to a saturated hydrocarbon
A cylindrical reactor of 70mm length and 5mm diameter is filled with a catalyst. The reaction was under ideal conditions with no backmixing and with 50% of the reactor volume as the flown volume.

What actual volume should have been used as the reactor Volume?

My guess is 0.0006872 litres, what is your guess?

I guess it would be half the volume of the reactor :S like approximately 0.65 mL so is that it?? or am I wrong..?

Hi marandamix,

My guess is based on calculating the volume of a cylinder, and then having half of the volume remaining (50% of the space contains the catalyst).

I hope that this helps with my guess.
