MgCO3 x nH2O => CO2 + ??

What other gas is produced when magnesium carbonate crystalohydrate is heated, other than CO2? That gas is supposed to react with H2SO4

Calling it a gas is what gives you troubles. Think what will be left after reaction, and what disappears.

After some practice you'll get the intuition of figuring out the products in a reaction.

MgO? What happens to H2O?

So is it MgCO3 x nH2:rarrow: CO2 + MgO + nH2O?

What are the products of this reaction then:
H2SO4 + CO2:rarrow: ?

CO2 does not react with H2SO4, but MgO does. Check carefully source of your question.

What is the reaction setup? Was the acid concentrated, or diluted? What is characteristic of concentrated acid?

"Some amount of MgCO3 x nH2O was being heated until there was no more gas produced. The obtained gas was being let through two bowls: one was filled with concentrated sulfuric acid, and the other with calcium hydroxide. During the reaction the first bowl got heavier by 5,4 g, and in the second 10 g of precipitate were formed. Find the formula of the crystalohydrate and find the mass of the broken down salt."

This as an absorption of water vapor, and not reaction. Concentated sulfuric acid is use as water trap.

MgCO3 x 3H2O
m = 13.8 g
