Any book that isn't too expensive is fine.

You don't need a special preparation text. Either make sure you can do algebra well or get a general chemistry textbook. Linus Paulings classic, General Chemistry, is good and cheap for the latter.

I recommend the Principles of Modern Chemistry by Oxtoby.
