hi, i want to ask do any1 have a method for extract FAMEs from oil sample?
my boss ask me to do sample preparation for FAMEs from OIL. im not sure what type of oil, maybe coconut oil (because of the smell.. ). the sample will be analyse using GC instrument. Sadly, at the end of the process before analyse the sample, the sample solidified (forming gel).
i extract using acid catalyst.
i add in of sulphuric acid in Methanol and toluene then i incubate for overnight at 55 degree celcius. then, add in NaCl and distilled hexane to for extraction process, then wash it using sodium bicarbonate. then i concentrate the sample using nitrogen gas, and at the of the process, i add in N-heptane and sodium methoxide (form double layer after centrifugation)..the upper layer then put into a vial...
from the beginning of the extraction process, there were no sign of solid stuff..but, after the sample were left for overnight, it started to solidified.

please help me to solve my problem.
