Question about lab glassware

Hi,

I obtained a number of small tubes that appear to be pipettes, but I wonder if they are of a special type, as they are small and have tapered, fine tips that bend away from the tube 1-1.5 cm before the end of the tube at an angle ranging from 10 degrees to 40 degrees (they are each a bit different, in size, and tip-bend-angle).

The company listed on these tubes is H.E. Petersen from DENMARK.

The sizes range from 15 cmm (I am unfamiliar with cmm to begin with.. what measurement is it?) to 500 cmm.

Some of them are measured in lambda, one is 20 lambda, another, 50 lambda.

Another thing:  there was a sticker on some of them that read:  CAUTION, RADIOACTIVE.  I was greatly concerned of course, when I saw this, but the individual who supplied these items claimed they were safe.

Any idea about these special pipettes?  Name, utility... ?

I have included a photo, but these items do not lend themselves well to the camera I am using...

I am unfamiliar with cmm to begin with.. what measurement is it?

Cubic millimeters perhaps?

No idea what they are, but I'd want a little more confirmation than just someone's word that they're not radioactive.

There is no way for us to tell you. The only way to know they are not radioactive for sure is to test them. Though if they look like really clean glass I would suspect they are not radioactive (though it is still technically possible).

It honestly looks like a simple pipette style drop adder. There are times when you want to add your reagent fairly slowly, so you do it drop by drop. This you could fill up, and just clamp it to the reagent and let it add drop by drop.


Does it dispense drop by drop if you remove the pipette bulb and let gravity do its work? I suspect you would want to fill from the top with another regular pipette.
