Jump-start on my physical chemistry

Hello all. I am planning on being a P. Chem major and am in my first year courses, but I want to get a jump-start on my P. Chem.
What are some really good books one would recommend?
I would prefer something that
is
math-heavy and teaches me the through in's and out's of PChem and solving the problems, etc., but something that can tie in the big picture as well.
Perhaps I should get several?
I also know that there are many different branches of p chem and do not know which ones I am interested in or what they are even about.
So a good general p chem would be nice-- but where should I go from there?
thanks

Math heavy, go with McQuarrie. Or, just get any goods textbook on Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics and Thermodynamics.
Everything by McQuarrie is top notch - Statistical Mechanics, Quantum Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Mathematical Methods.
