« on: June 04, 2011, 04:04:04 PM »
 A 0.0100 mol/L of which of the following substances is expected to have a pH much larger than 7.0 at T = 25.0C?
   a) KNO3 (salt of a strong acid and a strong base)
   b) NH4NO3 (salt of a strong acid and a weak base)
C   c) KNO2 (salt of a weak acid and a strong base)
   d) Both a and b
   e) None of the above

I dont understand why the answer is C can someone break it down for me?

KNO2 is the salt of weak acid
NO2-  + H2O ------>  HNO2  + OH-
I hope now you can figure out the reason
