What is the chemical name for "Epikure curing agent 161"?
« on: June 08, 2011, 05:21:57 AM »
I've been asked at work to find out the chemical names of 2 compounds that we use, Epikure curing agent 3427 & Epikure curing agent 161. I found out that Epikure 3427 is 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane, knowing that it's MDA, but I can't seem to be able to find what Epikure 161 is. The only thing I know about it is that it's an MDA-based aromatic amine.

I would appreciate it greatly if someone can help me.

You should be able to find out from the manufacturer, or from whoever sold you the chemical.  There's a common document called an MSDS, they (manufacturer, vendor, your boss) should provide it you when you ask.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply :)
My boss asked me to find it because QA/QC couldn't, and I have a background in industrial chemistry. I've sent an email to the manufacturer but no reply yet.

After some research I found that Epikure 161 is 25~50% isophorone diamine. Does this help in figuring out the compound?
