Catalysis
« on: June 17, 2011, 09:55:06 AM »
Hi guys,

I have two questions about catalysis:
1- Why does the geometry of a cluster influence the catalytic activity?
2- Why does the charge state influence the catalytic activity?

Thanks

Is this a homework question? You're supposed to take the first crack at those!

You can start by asking yourself two questions:

1) what physically does a catalyst do?

2) how would the geometry of the cluster or the charge state affect 1) ?

1- Acts at its surface, maximize it.
