Experiment involving light, need tips and advice.
« on: June 25, 2011, 07:56:09 PM »
So I want run an experiment where I cause various chemical reactions and record the brightness of the light energy given off.

Having not much in the way of experience I dont know very many appropriate test subjects, I want to try some things with magnesium, maybe magnesium and silver nitrate. And I'd like to see how bright welding is. But that's all I've got so far. I want to find out what is the brightest chemical reaction I can make. It doesn't need to be susstained even a flash is fine.

I think the way to go about this is exposing a photometer to various bursts of light energy from chemical reactions. Though I don't really know what I'm doing , furthermore I do not know where in Canada I can buy one.

Anyway that's the idea, I would greatly appreciate any advice suggestions, comment, or questions.
