Long story short: I'm a PhD organic chemist (total synthesis). The job market is bad. I have landed a job making high purity metal salts at a good company.
My question: What are the techniques and tools used to synthezise, purify, and analyse metal salt products? Coming from an organic background I'm used to extractions, columns, NMR, mass spec, IR, etc.... I'm feeling very out of my element, though I have no doubt that I'll be able to pick up this new chemistry with the right info and guidance.
Also, any recommended books or websites that would help me get up to speed quickly?
