concentration of nickel ions
« on: July 17, 2011, 01:05:42 PM »
Hi I have really big trouble to understand where to even begin on this one ! So can someone help me to get started maybe tip me of steps I need to take to solve this one?

The concentration of nickel ions in a 25.00 mL sample was determined by precipitation nickeldimetylglyoxim (NiC8H14N4O4). After filtration, washing and drying the precipitate weighed 0.2736 grams. Calculate the concentration of nickel ions in the original sample!

Used google translate to translate the problem since it first was written in swedish so there could be some spelling mistakes :)

Work out the number of moles in the final product. Then work out the equation of the reaction. From this you should be able to find the concentration of nickel ions.
Don't believe atoms, they make up everything!
