The melting point of water is 0 degrees C at 1atm pressure becuase under these conditions:
a) deltaS for the process H2O(s) --> H2O(l) is positive
b) deltaS and deltaS(surroundings) for the process H2O(s) --> H2O(l) are both positive
c) deltaS and deltaS(surroundings) for the process H2O(s) --> H2O(l) are equal in magnitude and opposite in sign
d) deltaG is positive for the process H2O(s)-->H2O(l)
e) none of these is correct
can anyone help me with this question.

equilibrium is attained at zero degrees, reversible, thus...I'm gonna go with c), since Ssys+Ssurr=0 for a reversible process (I'm actually on this chapter myself at the moment-P Chem?)
q/T+-q/T'=0
