What is the value of the base ionization constant...
« on: August 16, 2011, 02:16:44 PM »
kb, for the acetate ion C2H3O2-

I have

acetic acid +h20 <-->H30 + acetate

ka=1.8x10-5

acetate + h20 <--> Acetic acid and OH-

(Ka)*(Kb)=Kw

Ka of acetic acid = 1.8x10-5

Kw= 1x10-14

kb= (1x10-14)
      (1.8x10-5)

kb= 5.56x10-10

Ka*Kb=kw

is this right?
