Bond breaking on phosphites with laser!

Hey,

I am working with phosphites. The point is that I was wondering about the reason that you can break the bond between oxygen and a methylene group applying laser at 335nm. Why make this bond sensitive to light?

What is the structure of your phosphite? It seems unlikely that you generate a -----CH2. radical?
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!
