I know this is an old thread, but every chemist needs to develop great interview skills. That comes with time. I am working on moving on from my current employer and have been doing phone screens and interviews since December.
I can tell you that the experience has been an eye opener. Just updating my resume has resulted in a number of recruiters calling me to ask general questions. Having job experience has definitely helped me. But new graduates should work on what they contributed in school and how they can help out the company. That is what they want to hear.
