A pale-yellow ionic solid is found to contain only tin and bromine, distributed by mass as
Sn: 42.6% Br: 57.4%
What is its empirical formula?
The answer is SnBr2 but why?

Empirical formula is a molar ratio of atoms.
You have been given a mass ratio of atoms.
