methanoic and benzoic acid

Why is methanoic acid more acidic than benzoic acid? I thought the negative charge of COO- would be delocalized into the benzene ring, stabilizing the benzoate ion so it should be more acidic than methanoic acid which doesnt have this delocalization.

What's the pKa of methanoic acid. Benzoic acid is 4.2 in aqueous solution
Most Common Suggestions I Make on the Forums.
1. Start by writing a balanced chemical equation.
2. Don't confuse thermodynamic stability with chemical reactivity.
