Hi!

I've a few questions regarding this subject of bio-organic chemistry.

1. Is bio-organic chemistry a hot topic currently? If not, what is a hot topic right now in biochemistry?

2. Do employers and/or universities actively look for bio-organic chemists?

3. Anyone here ever used the Voet & Voet Biochemistry undergraduate text book? I've heard that mechanisms and the CHEMISTRY is really stressed over the BIOLOGY. The book I use is by Lehninger and teaches the general scope of biochemistry (sadly, mechanisms are not really stressed in this text book!)

My love for organic chemistry has made me to want to do research in the field of bio-organic chemistry. So, please. Share your experiences with me, thanks!

Back in the 80's when I was an undergrad,   Lehninger and Stryer were the books for General Biochem. For the more advanced stuff  Biochemistry: The Chemical Reactions of Living Cells by David E Metzler was the go-to volume.It has morphed in to a 2 volume set since then
