crystal grains of metals
« on: March 26, 2012, 11:28:45 PM »
This might be an odd question but can metal cations in a metallic lattice move across grain boundaries? From what I have read so far, it says that boundaries are regions where there are disruptions in the lattice between the crystal grains but no resource has gone on to say whether it is possible for cations from one crystal grain to slide into a neighbouring crystal grain. Thank you.
