strength of acid
« on: April 17, 2012, 08:26:36 PM »
Hi
I have a question about acids strength
So these are my acids:

a: (OH)2SO2
b: (OH)2SO
c: H2S

I assume that (OH)2SO2 > (OH)2SO, because I checked the oxidation state of sulphur for both molecules. Oxidation state for molecule "a" is 6 and oxidation state for molecule "b" is 4.
Sulphur is in 6th group so...6>4 but how to relate that to  H2S?

a: O
b: O
c: S
Do you mean I have to take into account electronegativity?
a and b > c ??
