How toxic is Hg2Cl2 , Mercury (I) Chloride?  And also in the lab today our teacher allowed us do a side project of synthesizing out metallic mercury through addition of hydrogen peroxide to mercury nitrate (Hg2(NO3)2) in the presence of an alkali hydroxide , sodium hydroxide. my question is what are the products and was it dangerous if you smelled just a little of the fumes or even got a tiny amount of the decant, saturationliquid above the precipitate, on your hand. And why not I will add another question how did you correct come up with the products, I tried doing the half reactions, I think I did it wrong. And to see if it was spontaneous I tried to calculate the Gibbs free energy, but I couldn't find all the Gibbs formation values. And also how are you sure that some of the products don't change phases? THANK YOU! i KNOW IT is a lot of questions but thanks for taking the time to answer them.

Very.  If you'd like a more specific answer, try to ask a more specific question -- how much are you exposed to, for how long, where . swallowed or on skin, how healthy is the victim, etc.

Well, I think you could hurt yourself just reading that out loud a few times.  Question:  if this reaction produces metallic mercury, and that's the "precipitate", and you've been exposed to the supernatant ... well, doesn't that answer your own question?

Well, lets see what you have written down, for starters, we may be able to fill in blanks, or tell you where you've gone so wrong that you're hurting your own chances to solve the puzzle.
