1.In the reaction:
Mg(OH)2+2NH4++HPO42- :rarrow: MgNH4PO4+NH4OH+H2O what should I write in the index after H2O and NH4OH (l) or (aq)?
2.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitrate_test the brown ring test, should I write (g) after NO?

My guess for the first is (aq) because it is an aqua solution.
For the second one (g)?

NH3(aq) instead of NH4OH

NO concentration is so small that it is soluble in solution - then very fast bounded by Fe2+ - (aq) or nothing.

So, instead NH4OH I write NH3+H2O?

It is better. In the Arhenius theory NH3.H2O was used instead.
