H NMR spectroscopy

Hello there,

can anyone tell me how many H NMR signals o-toluic acid should have?  I performed an HNMR spec analysis on my sample but it looks wrong.  I thought there should be 4 signals but I only have 3. If I'm wrong, please correct me, or is my analysis just off?

If the NMR spectrometer is low in operating frequency, the resolution will be poor, it can't separate the peaks which are closed in chemical shift.

3 signals:

1. 3 methyl protons
2. a carboxylic proton
3. 4 aromatic protons (their peaks are merged together)

You can calculate the integration numbers to see how many protons are showing up in each region
