Portable GC
« on: December 07, 2005, 04:12:54 AM »
Honestly, are portable GCs even used anymore?  Were they ever used, and what for?

I found this Portable GC on Ebay (<-- link) and we have a portable GC in our lab at the University...but it just sits under the sink...I think it got some use a little while ago, stationary, on a desk, because we ran out of REAL GCs lol..

Seems like a crackpot idea to me, what with the gases, calibrant, all that stuff...if anybody has experience / a clue about these, that'd be awesome!

There is always a possibility that you will need such a thing in a field, to make fast determination of unstable samples, or when there is no time to send samples to the distant lab (say in case of leak of some poisonus substance).
