I heard that you can make Biodiesel with lye, methanol and vegetable oil:

NaOH + CH₃OH + Vegetable oil ==> Biodiesel

What is the chemical structure of Biodiesel and what burns differently from regular diesel that makes it have better mileage and is cleaner?
