While your reaction is running...
« on: October 16, 2012, 11:19:51 AM »
...or you're waiting in line for the NMR, or you know your advisor's out to lunch, or you're "doing" a fully automated analytical experiment...

What games do you play? (We all take breaks, right?) I'd like to find something that I can pick up and put down quickly, and that's multiplayer. I was playing Illyriad for a while, but it got boring because the community is so anti-war; the whole game is basically one big peacekeeping force.

Back when I had a job, the most important time wasting game for me was ... browsing http://www.chemicalforums.com/ , of course.
Hey, I'm not judging.  I just like to shoot straight.  I'm a man of science.

You don't even have to switch windows in a hurry if your advisor suddenly barges in!  ;D

We had some lab friends playing Ikariam for a while, which was cool. Of course my all-time favorite time-waster was an online RPG call Kingdom of Loathing, which basically made fun of everything.

Heh, thanks for the suggestions.

My friends and I discussed leaving a game of Axis and Allies set up somewhere in the chem building, and going to play our turns while we had a spare fifteen minutes or so. We couldn't come up with a place where we all had access that wouldn't be disturbed, though.  :'(

No kidding. I swear my labmates and I had probably 4 characters each going at once. It's quite amazing how much time we spent on what was essentially a joke game, but holy crap was it addicting.
