Grignard Reagent
« on: November 10, 2012, 06:04:59 PM »
We are doing the multistep synthesis of triphenylmethanol.  We need to calculate the moles of Grignard needed to react with methyl benzoate, and then the grams of magnesium, and then bromobenzene for the reaction.  Can someone please help me with these?  I really just need a basic formula for them and I should be able to figure it out from there.  Thank you!

Put in some effort (this is a forum rule, please read them), you can look all of this up yourself with a quick google.

Start with balanced chemical equations, then try the calculations. Post your attempt.

Draw out your reaction scheme, then you will get a better idea.
