IR Spectroscopy Interpretation Help
« on: November 26, 2012, 12:54:11 PM »
Hi Everyone. I worked on these two IR Spec problems, but I'm not sure if i am on the right track. Unfortunately my professor uses a method that I can't seem to find tutorials for and he hasn't been helpful during office hours.

He first wants use to find the Hydrogen Deficiency Index and use that to predict which functional groups are present; I think 1 is an ester and 2 i believe is also an ester with an alkyne, but I'm not sure if thats correct. One issue if anyone can clarify - how can i know if there's a cyclic ring?

I'd appreciate any help with these questions. Thank you.
