Chemistry help please {moles and molar mass}
« on: December 07, 2012, 03:24:47 PM »
I'm doing a project on measuring mass and I do not understand it. I have to find the mass, molar mass, moles of each element, and atoms of each element for the following elements: gold , lead, uranium, sodium, copper,NaCl,C12H22O14,NH4Cl,C6H5OH,and C9H8O4. I found the mass and molar mass of each one. But I don't understand how to get the moles and atoms of each element. Gold mass: 51.0616 molar mass: 196.97,  lead mass:33.1228 molar mass: 207.2, urnaium mass: 51.0581 molar mass: 238.03, sodium mass:2.8699 molar mass:23, copper mass:24.0600 molar mass:63.54,NaCl mass:1.0267 molar mass:58.44, N12H22O14 mass: 1.1955 molar mass:390.296214, NH4Cl mass:1.0065 molar mass:i cant find it, C6H5OH mass:1.0390 molar mass:94.11, C9H8O4 mass: 1.0271 molar mass: 180.1598.  Please help.

Moles = mass/molar mass
Atoms = moles*Avogadro constant(6.22 * 10^23)
For example, if you want to get moles of ammonium chloride(NH4Cl): 1.0065 g/53.491 g/mol = 0.0188 moles
And quantity of atoms: 1.88 * 10^-2 * 6,22 * 10^23 = 1.169*10^22
