Ummm, that would react with the methanol solvent first! If you want to acylate a thiol, you should go for a non-nucleophilic solvent (methylene chloride is good choice) and a non-nucleophilic base like triethylamine or pyridine. If it's still sluggish, then you can use a catalyst like 4-(N,N-dimethylamino)pyridine (a.k.a. DMAP).
This reaction shouldn't take more than about 12-24 hours at the very most unless something fishy is going on.
