Hi,
I am unsure of how the reaction of excess benzene, propene, and HF will lead to 2-phenylpropane. It seems like it is going through some sort of Friedel-Crafts alkylation, but I do not see how.

The HF will protonate the propene to form a secondary carbocation, which is an electrophile capable of reacting with benzene to form 2-phenylpropane.
