What is the product of the following reaction sequence?

I think that the answer is C but I am looking for confirmation on that.

I too think it is 3, because the 1st step is cyanohydrin formation and the second is complete hydrolysis of the cyanide. But note that there is ammonia in the reaction mixture. It's possible that it might attack the carbon containing OH and substitute it, especially since the reaction mixture is acidic and there is possibility of protonating the OH group and making it leave as water.

Complete hydrolysis of nitriles produces carboxylic acids.
Development Chemists do it on Scale, Research Chemists just do it!
