how do u get a volume from a concentration only?

From this information im supposed to be able to work out the amount of sulhuric acid im supposed to use in cm-3 and the mass of magnesium carbonate im supposed to react it with.

Aqueous sulphuric acid; Concentration:10 mol dm-3.
Solid magnesium carbonate.

You know its 10 moles per dm cubed. Since 1 cubic centimeter is equal to 1 milliliter convert your units and you should have what you need for the problem.

What process are you referring to? To be able to calculate anything you have to start from the reaction equation.

MgCO3 (s) + H2SO4 (aq) => MgSO4 (aq) + CO2 (g) + H2O (l)

let mass of H2SO4 used be M (in unit of grams)
molar mass of H2SO4 = 98.1g/mol
from equation, stoichometric ratio between sulphuric acid and magnesium carbonate is 1:1, so minimum number of mole of sulphur acid needed to react with all the magnesium carbonate is given as M/98.1

minimum volume of sulphuric acid needed
= ( M/98.1 ) / Concentration
= ( M/98.1 ) / 10
= M/981

does that mean i need to calculate what 10moles of magnesium carbonate in grams?

minimum volume of sulphuric acid needed
= ( M/98.1 ) / Concentration
= ( M/98.1 ) / 10
= M/981

M/98.1 is the number of moles of the magnesium carbonate, so you just gotta replace M/98.1 with 10moles

min. volume of sulphuric acid = 10/10 = 1dm3
