Tryptophan from Protein Hydrolysis

hi all curious friends.
have a question about protein hydrolysis.
I want to get tryptophan from a protein by hydrolyzing it.
don't care about it's racemicity.
since all i need is tryptophan and tryptophan only, it wouldn't make any problem if all other Amino-Acids got destroyed.
Any help on procedure and acid/base choosing is appreciated greatly.

Tryptophan is destroyed under the conditions of a standard acidic hydrolysis. However, I seem to recall that hydrolysis of a protein in base works (I don't have a reference at my fingertips). Why don't you just buy it?

I have not done a hydrolysis to obtain Trp, but one reference is A. S. Inglis, Methods in Enzymology, Vol. 91, p. 26, 1983. You might also look into the use of barium hydroxide by Noltman.
