When you're making a posting, there's a little plus sign next to Additional Options, click it and you'll get some other options, among the the ability to attach a file.  Images will appear.

I use tinypic.com as it is very simple and totally free to upload an image from your hard-drive and then copy the link to that image into your forum topic post.

To make AWK's answer less cryptic: Additional options is a button/sign just below the edit field in which you type your answer.

Rotate it before posting.

I added the picture of what I have done, but I am not super confident. The first pictured rotated, but they aren't sideways on my computer so I can't get the other to correct.

Images can contain additional information (exif) about rotation, especially if a camera made the pictures. Some software (on your computer) uses this information to display the images, others (Web browsers displaying the present page) doesn't.

This free application can display the exif information, remove it, and rotate images - and is good for many more goals:

choose you OS, language(s), version (the more complete has too many options for me).

I take it upon myself to help out with these cases from time to time, and I'd like to show you what I've done.  I don't really know why the forum software rotates images, but I think it has to do with image size.  So here's what have I done.

1).  I cropped the image.  I cut out the edges which showed something other than the page.  That takes up space, and isn't need for the purpose an image is posted -- to solve a problem.

2).  I reduced the colors.  The image was carefully storing all the varying shades of manila this paper had, and again, we don't need that information.

3).  I resized it.  It doesn't need to be 3264x2448, its going to be resized by the forum software anyway.  I picked a reasonable size for the page.

And there you have it, a black and white image, centered on the page, ready to be worked with.

Did you notice, it just flashed onto the screen, the original has to build -- usually in seconds with decent bandwidth, but still.

This is becoming more of a problem, now that people are using cell phone photos and not scanners.  Still, if you depend on the image to get stuff done, you may want to put a bit of effort on the message.

Forum doesn't rotate images, you have to do that on your device, before posting.

The image from the first post was modified by me, on my computer.

I'd find it comfortable if the images uploaded to the forum could be inserted in the text, not only appended. This permits to make the comments, explanations... close to the pertinent image. Or is that already possible here and I didn't find it?

It can be done with img tags

(but the image will be still displayed below the post to which is was attached, and those not logged in won't see it; perhaps these are not all problems with this approach).
