hi , i am just wondering about a picture i saw in my EK orgo, it is a carbon having 2 hybridized orbitals with 2 pure p orbitals. can anyone explain how did two orbitals hybridize while 2 stayed p orbitals in carbon. thx

carbon valence shell has one s and three p orbitals
so one s and one p mixed to give two hybridized sp orbitals and two p orbitals will remain pure.
