Dear Members,Can anybody tell me if i want to prepare acidied water in lab i may add hcl to d.m water to increase ph to 7.4.Is there any buffer required or not.RegardsDinesh Kumar

it will be around 6.8-6.90 & i will be adding 10% of hcl.Please advise about buffer would it be necessary or not.

I am familiar with the test but I don't think you are familar with acid / base reactions.You are working in the analysis of potable water I assume, you may need to check what happens to the pH of a solution when you add acid to it.
