Hydrogen Sulfide gas price
« on: October 11, 2013, 09:52:38 PM »
Hello all,

It's my first time posting here, so if I got the wrong subforum for this please let me know where I should post it.

Let's say that there is a hypothetical situation where I would need a lot of hydrogen sulfide gas for a process. I tried to look around for its price (dollars per pound), but it's not quite easy to find, unlike the more commonly bought stuff like benzene or toluene. I guess it's just because it's not a highly in demand chemical, therefore no motivation to price it? If I wanted to use H2S, would it be better to obtain it from another reaction instead of seeking to buy it? Thank you.

A couple tons.

You can buy is as a speciality gas in cylinders or tonners. Air Products / Linde etc. seem to sell it.

talking "prices", and as we're in an engineering forum...

in Europe, Na2S solutions at times are sold at a negative price, even when delivered free to plant

H2SO4 is cheap as dirt ...

Ingo

p.s.: if you're very lucky, you even might find a company that even is willing to pay for Na2SO4/ H2SO4/water , or at least take it for free, transports at their expenses
look out for companies producing BaSO4 for oil drilling purposes...
