Hydrophobic properties
« on: October 19, 2013, 01:48:00 AM »
Dear Friends, i need some help on following:
To obtain a water-based organosilicon emulsion with high penetrability and water repellency and high water repellent (Hydrophobic )performance, excellent in stability with time, therefore useful as a hydrophobic agent.

i want to use this by adding water in it. the porous absorbing material ( with absorption of max 6% ) will be placed inside this solution up to its saturation. after 24 hours it will be taken out and dried, it should then have a property of hydrophobic material.

please help me on it. :)

Are you absolutely sure you want to base the emulsion or solution on water?

Since you want the organosilicon to be hydrophobic, it won't make an emulsion easily. But if a third compound promotes the emulsion, traces of this third compound left behind risk to make the obtained coating inefficient.

Wouldn't you prefer a true solvent for the organosilicon that would evaporate?

dear sir, i m not a chemical engineer so doesent have the knowladge abt it. i just got this compound by googling.
i want a material which can be soluble in water. if i deep a porus substant like stone in this solution, it will absorb the solution.
when it gets dry the nano material/ polymer which was penitrated in pores during absorption will act as a water repelent.
during search i found it is some sort of non-polar polymer mix with polar water.

i need this material polymer for doing my project work.
please help me on this
