Metallic Bonding
« on: November 21, 2013, 08:05:02 AM »
Hey!
I have an assignment from school for which i need to research the properties of metallic bonding. I'm having trouble with a few, so I was hoping someone would be able to help confirm my findings! ???
1) What occupies the lattice points in metallic solids (i.e. metals): The nuclei of the bonded metal occupies the lattice points, therefore cations occupy the lattice points.
2)What is the electrical conductivity of metals in their liquid and aqueous state: In their liquid state, metals are generally fair conductors of electricity. Metals in their aqueous state (alkali metals) are also conductors of electricity, though not as effective as in their solid or liquid state.
Thanks!
Ash ;D
