mechanism of the reaction between NO2 and water
« on: November 23, 2013, 06:47:27 PM »
I understand that in this reaction 3NO2 + H2O --> 2HNO3 + NO, NO2 is acting as both the reductant and oxidant but could someone explain what is actually occurring to the molecules? How is the HNO3 and NO2 being formed? What is water's role? Thank you.
