Resources for Olympiad Preparation?
« on: November 30, 2013, 09:06:02 PM »
What are some resources you guys have used to prepare for both the local and national exams for Chemistry?

The online exams seem very useful, but they can only help so much without explanations. I've heard about Atkins and Zumdahl, but it seems like reading them is unnecessary if you already have a background in chemistry (as I do). Any suggestions?

No. If you want to get further in the Olympiad (than local - I can't guess what you need for your local exam) you will not get by without a proper undergrad textbook or two.

I had never read Zumdahl before but I looked at it just now in Google Books and it seems like a decent book for various topics in the Olympiad, despite not being a university book. (I think it US A.P.?) If you are scared of the maths in Atkins then you might want to go for that instead.
