pretty much playing with reagents at my disposal.

To what end?

It is always good to experiment, but not speculate.
You need to have the proper analytical tools available to use when required. They don't have to be high tech, just informative.

What would the procedure be for the oxidation / amounts of reagents? And after the reaction would I need to separate it at all before doing the condensation?

And you would need to purify your product, distillation, crystallisation, column chromatography etc. before using it in the next reaction.

Yeah i'm just trying to figure out procedural wise I need to do the oxidation. And what amount of my alcohol and KMnO4 I need. I know I have to keep the reaction under 80 degrees, but I'm not sure on the amounts of the reagents.

What is the extent of your chemical experience? Because if you don't know how to work out the amounts of reactants should you even be doing this at all?
