No universal answer, depending on the context different notations will be convenient. There is a whole family of vanadium oxyanions, which one dominates solution is a function of pH.
If water is only a solvent, (aq) is usually enough. If it is being consumed or produced in the reaction it has to be listed separately. However, sometimes we just want to signal the reaction, without getting into details:
Cr
3+(aq)
CrO
42-(aq)
then (aq) is sufficient, even if water is definitely part of the oxidation process.
