can anybody tell how intramolecular hydrogen bonding increases stability?

It might also help to define the scope of your question.  What sort of molecules are you considering?

H bound to N,O,or F is an extremely strong bond.  Think about bond dissociation energies of the molecules you are referring to.  You will find that these bonds are easy to make/hard to break!  Thats your starter!  Best of luck!
