NMR spectrum of conjugated carbonyl

In a conjugated carbonyl, why does the vinyl hydrogen closest to the carbonyl absorb more upfield than than the vinyl hydrogen farthest from the carbonyl? Shouldnt the vinyl hydrogen closest to the carbonyl be more deshielded? Thank you!

Think about the resonance forms of an unsaturated carbonyl group... why do electrophiles attack at the beta position rather than the alpha?
